FAQ
What is Facial Lifting?
Face lifting is based on the Face Yoga Method created by Fumiko Takatsu and is a natural, non-invasive practice that involves a series of exercises designed to tone and strengthen the muscles in your face, similar to how regular yoga works to tone the body. By working the facial muscles, face yoga aims to promote a more youthful appearance, improve skin elasticity, and encourage better circulation, which can result in a fresh, healthy glow.
How Does Facial Lifting Work?
The face has around 50 muscles, many of which are often underused or tense. Face yoga exercises target these muscles to help:
-
Lift and Tone: Regularly working facial muscles can create a natural lift, especially in areas that might show signs of ageing, like the cheeks, jawline, and neck.
-
Reduce Tension: It helps relieve tension, particularly around the forehead, eyes, and jaw, where stress often builds up, leading to wrinkles or tightness.
-
Improve Circulation: The exercises encourage blood flow, which enhances oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin, supporting a bright, healthy complexion.
-
Boost Collagen Production: Stimulating facial muscles can indirectly promote collagen production, which supports skin elasticity and reduces fine lines over time.
How Often Should I Practise Facial Lifting Before I See Results?
Recommended Practice Frequency

-
Initial Phase (First 4-6 Weeks):
-
Aim for 5-10 minutes of practice twice a day. This consistent daily routine helps to establish muscle memory and can lead to quicker initial results.
-
Focus on learning the exercises properly and ensuring you’re engaging the correct muscles.
-
-
Maintenance Phase (After Initial Results):
-
After about 4-6 weeks, you can increase the duration of your routine to 15 - 30 minutes daily. It is recommended to do one routine in the morning and one before going to bed for best results.
-
Continuing to practise regularly will help sustain and enhance the results you’ve achieved.
-
What to Expect and Timeline for Results
1-2 Weeks: You may start to feel a difference in muscle tone and tension relief, as well as a sense of relaxation.
-
4-6 Weeks: You should notice subtle changes in your skin texture, improved circulation, and perhaps a slight lift in certain areas of the face.
-
8-12 Weeks: More noticeable results can emerge, such as reduced fine lines, improved symmetry, and a more toned appearance in areas you’ve been focusing on.
Who Can Benefit from Facial Lifting?
Face yoga is beneficial for all ages and skin types. It's ideal for anyone looking for a natural approach to maintaining a youthful appearance, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, relieving facial tension, or simply enhancing their daily skincare routine.
Face yoga empowers you to take control of your facial wellness and can be practised anytime, anywhere, for a few minutes each day or as part of a longer, more structured routine.
Why Choose Us?
We are part of the Face Yoga Method family, certified by the guru of face yoga herself, Fumiko Takatsu.
We follow the Face Yoga Method approach which centres around:
-
Targeted Muscle Engagement: Exercises that isolate and tone facial muscles, like those around the cheeks, eyes, and neck.
-
Focus on Symmetry: Many exercises work to balance both sides of the face, promoting symmetry and harmony.
-
Natural Lifting: The method is designed to create a natural lift by building strength in the facial muscles.
-
Daily Practice: We recommend short, daily routines that are easy to incorporate into everyday life, making it accessible for anyone.
When should I practise the Facial Lifting?
Ideally twice a day: first thing in the morning and right before going to bed. When you practise the Face Yoga poses in the morning, it wakes up the muscles and makes you more aware of facial movements throughout the day. Most of us develop unfavourable muscle practices, i.e. frowning. Practising in the morning can help break those bad facial habits. Practising before bed helps reset the muscles you used during the day and to relax not only the face muscles but the mind, too, resulting in a nice, peaceful slee sleep. If you find it hard to practise the poses in the morning, practice throughout the day. You can practise while you’re driving, cooking, watching TV and even in the shower! Try to make it a daily habit
What if I can’t move my face muscles?
Just practise! Practice makes progress. It’s just like learning any skill, riding a bike, driving a car, learning to dance. The more you practise, the more natural it becomes. The same concept applies to your facial muscles. If you’re not used to moving your facial muscles, it may take time to get comfortable with the movements and that’s okay.
Will I get wrinkles by practising Facial Lifting?
If you are doing the poses incorrectly and without using a mirror, it is possible to create more wrinkles, which is why it is so important to learn with a Face Yoga coach who can show you the correct way to do the poses and give you corrections while you practice.
Do I have to do all the Facial Lifting poses?
It’s not necessary to practise every single pose to get results. Practice poses related to the areas with which you’re most concerned. However, just like with exercise for the body, a total facial workout will give you overall better results,so I encourage you to practise a variety of Face Yoga poses.
Just as you do a total body workout when you go to the gym to get an overall condition, your face needs to exercise all the muscles to get good over-all results.
My face feels strange after practising Facial Lifting. Is that normal?
It’ s absolutely normal! In fact, it means you’re moving facial muscles you’re not used to moving – which is a good thing. Imagine playing a new sport for the first time. How would your body feel? Probably challenged and very different than usual, because the body and brain would be getting a new kind of stimulation. If you ever feel too much pain or an intense sensation when practising, take it easy and gradually increase the resistance or frequency of the exercise over time.
Additional Tips for Success
-
Stay Consistent: Like any exercise routine, consistency is key. Regular practice will yield better and more lasting results.
-
Focus on Form: Proper technique is crucial. Ensure you're performing exercises correctly to avoid strain and maximise effectiveness.
-
Combine with Other Wellness Practices: For enhanced results, consider incorporating other skincare practices, such as hydration, a balanced diet, and adequate sleep, alongside your face yoga routine.
-
Track your success with before and after photos. Measuring facial changes is very different than measuring changes in the body which are easier to see due to measuring devices. The results on the face are much more subtle and appear slowly over time. Keeping a photo record is the easiest way to track your results.
Ultimately, everyone’s body is different, and results can vary based on individual factors like age, skin type, and the specific areas targeted. Being patient and committed to your practice will help you achieve the best results!
